Sketch app tips & tricks #1 – Image fills

If you’re like me you’re already familiar with the concept of applying masks to images. This has been fairly commonplace in Illustrator and Photoshop for quite some time. Masks are generally fine but it becomes difficult to manage them once your designs get more complex as they conflict with other layers on your art board. This is especially true if there are multiple images or the masked images are quite large in size with a small portion masked.

Today I’d like to share a technique that I learned that makes adding images to designs much cleaner and easier. I’m not exactly sure what this technique is called so currently I’m referring to it as creating “image fills” to existing shapes. Below is a video of how the process works in Sketch. I hope you enjoy it!
